Thirty years ago Seve Ballesteros started a tournament for the kids of Pedreña, called the Torneo Infantil Seve Ballesteros. With this competition Seve wanted to support and at the same time spot out the most talented young golf players, while helping them to overcome the difficulties he himself had suffered at the same age.

Seve frequently remembered his own teenage years when he found it difficult to play golf. Thus, each year he placed great effort and much hope in supporting this event. He always marked the date in his schedule to be with the young ones. His only requirement was that it had to be before the school year, and he participated in the prize giving ceremony.

With his passion to make golf popular in Spain and helping kids, Seve put all his enthusiasm into this competition which in 2022 celebrated it’s XXXVIII Edition.

Since 2017 the Seve Ballesteros Junior Tournament is also being held at Buenavista Golf, where two golf scholarship are offered to young players.
